What Can Be Automated?

If you do it more than twice and the steps are the same each time, it can probably be automated. Here are the most common categories:

Data Entry & Transfer

Easy

Form submissions → spreadsheet rows. CRM updates from email. Invoice data extraction. CSV imports/exports between systems.

Notifications & Alerts

Easy

Slack/email alerts when a deploy finishes. Daily digest of key metrics. Threshold alerts (sales drop, error spike, inventory low).

Content Publishing

Medium

Blog post → social media cross-posting. YouTube upload → tweet + LinkedIn post. RSS feed → email newsletter.

Report Generation

Medium

Weekly analytics summaries. Monthly revenue reports. Sprint velocity dashboards. Client status updates.

Lead & Customer Workflows

Medium

New signup → welcome email sequence. Form submission → CRM entry + Slack notification + calendar invite. Abandoned cart → follow-up email.

Development & DevOps

Medium

PR merged → deploy to staging. Daily database backup. Dependency update checks. Lighthouse score monitoring.

AI-Powered Workflows

Advanced

Customer support triage (classify, route, draft response). Content generation with review gates. Document summarization. Code review assistance.

Multi-Step Orchestration

Advanced

Order placed → payment verified → inventory updated → shipping label generated → tracking email sent → analytics logged. Each step is simple. The chain is the automation.

Techniques I Use

Claude Code for Multi-File Operations

SEO sweeps across multiple pages, bulk data entry into structured files, generating project scaffolding, and composing entire features from a conversation. This project blog was built in a single session.

n8n for Event-Driven Pipelines

Form submission → Google Sheets → Slack notification. New Git push → deploy preview → notify team. Scheduled daily backup → Drive sync. Each pipeline is a visual flow that runs unattended.

Formspree + Webhooks

Zero-backend form handling. Submissions go to Formspree, trigger webhooks to n8n, which routes data to wherever it needs to go. No server to maintain.

Shell Scripts for Developer Workflow

Port cleanup, project scaffolding (Bereshit), git hooks for pre-commit checks, and environment setup scripts. The glue between tools.

Cron + Claude for Content Pipelines

Scheduled content generation (daily haikus for Potato Literature), validation (haiku detector for syllable checking), and publication. AI generates, tooling validates, cron schedules.

Ready to Automate?

Whether you want to learn (start with n8n — it is free), do it yourself (follow the resources above), or have me build it for you (white-glove service) — the first step is the same: identify the task you do repeatedly. Everything flows from there.
